300 jobs to be created if packaging giant’s new warehouse approved

More than 300 jobs could be created if a food packaging giant, whose clients include the likes of Waitrose, Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, is granted permission for a new manufacturing and distribution base in Birmingham.Euro Packaging, through its property investment arm, is seeking permission from Birmingham City Council for the 41,042 sq ft building at Phoenix Park in Brickfield Road.If approved at a meeting on Thursday (19 July 2018), 30 per cent of the building would be used to manufacture recyclable paper cups and other commodities, while 70 per cent would be given over to storage. There would also be loading docks for seven heavy goods vehicles.Euro Packaging was established in 1974 and makes cleaning and janitorial products, stationery, catering light equipment, food packaging, bags, wrapping and packaging materials, catering disposables and workwear.Its clients include Aldi, Sainsbury’s Greggs, Asda, Gourmet Burger Kitchen,Taco Bell, Debenhams, Starbucks, Carrefour, JD, Pizza Hut, M&S, Morrisons, KFC, Tesco, The Range, Waitrose, Thomas Cook and John Lewis.It added that the proposals “would create much needed commercial space for Euro properties to expand and continue operations on site”.
